Alendrate 70mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.

Lactation

Alendrate 70mg Tablet is probably safe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent a significant risk to the baby.If you are taking Alendrate 70mg Tablet during breastfeeding, monitor baby's blood calcium levels during the first two months.

Driving

Do not drive unless you are feeling well.Alendrate 70mg Tablet is not expected to have any effects but in rare cases, it may cause dizziness, severe muscle, joint and bone pain and eye pain or inflammation. This may affect your ability to drive.

Kidney

Alendrate 70mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Alendrate 70mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.Dose adjustment is not recommended in patients with mild to moderate kidney disease.

Liver

Alendrate 70mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Alendrate 70mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.

Uses of Alendrate Tablet
Alendrate 70mg Tablet is used in the treatment of osteoporosisThis disease mostly occurs in women after menopause, but can sometimes be seen in men. It can also occur in patients receiving steroids.

How to use Alendrate Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Alendrate 70mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

How Alendrate Tablet works
Alendrate 70mg Tablet is a bisphosphonate. It acts by suppressing the activity of osteoclasts, cells that cause the destruction of bone, thereby strengthening the bones and minimizing the risk of fractures.

Side Effects:

Common Musculoskeletal (bone, muscle or joint) pain, Headache, Heartburn, Difficulty in swallowing.

Expert advice for Alendrate Tablet
Take Alendrate in the morning on an empty stomach with water. Do not eat or drink for 30 minutes after taking Alendrate. Maintain an upright posture for 30 minutes after taking Alendrate. Inform your doctor if you experience pain in jaw, throat, chest, abdomen, hips or thighs. Inform your doctor if you are about to undergo any major dental procedures, as Alendrate may need to be discontinued temporarily.
